Safety tips

Safety in every sense of the word

Safety is one of the most important aspects of the Túnel d'Envalira. Its facilities are designed and built to guarantee maximum safety in any situation.

To that end, we adapt to the recommendations of international organisations CETU (Centre d'Étude des Tunnels) and PIARC (of the World Road Association).

As a driver, all you have to do is respect the signs and the rules to make your journey an enjoyable one:

  • Respect the minimum safety distance of 70 metres from other vehicles.
  • Use your low beams.
  • Do not stop when the traffic is moving as usual.
  • Do not change direction.
  • Do not pass.
  • Respect the maximum speed of 70 km/h and minimum speed of 40 km/h.

What to do in the event of a breakdown

Your cooperation is very important.
If your vehicle breaks down, follow the instructions below:

  • Pull over to the curb.
  • Turn on all four indicators.
  • Use the SOS posts in the tunnel to call for assistance.
  • Once the call has been made, stay inside the vehicle, or on the pavement (always in a safe place and off the road).
  • When the field agent arrives, follow his or her instructions.
